Most fuel bug test kit utilizes growth-based tests which require a minimum of 72 hours to provide any results. But unlike these test kits, FUELSTAT® RAPID 10M - Fuel Test Kit is engineered to give you results in just 10 minutes. The test provides actions and alert levels by measuring the amount of active growth in the sample. This test rapidly screens fuel samples, giving a quick and precise assessment of different contaminants present in the fuel tank.
FUELSTAT® RAPID 10M - Fuel Test Kit identify the type of contaminates present in the fuel sample: bacteria, fungi, H. Res and gives result depending on the degree of contamination of the fuel sample. This test kit measures the density of actively growing microbes in the sample. This is a more accurate testing system than the old Colony Forming Unit (CFU).
The test gives result in three colours which can be interpreted as below:
FUELSTAT® RAPID 10M - Fuel Test Kit is standalone fuel test kit. Everything you need to carry out the test is provided in the kit itself. It does not require any external equipment.
Prevention of fuel from contamination is better than treating the fuel after it has caused serious damage to the fuel storage system or equipment. FUELSTAT® RAPID 10M - Fuel Test Kit is the right test kit for this job.
How to use
a) Sample Preparation
Take fuel sample into a clean container. Allow fuel sample to sit for a few minutes so that water (if present) accumulate at the bottom of the container.
Note: Fuel sample should be drawn from the lowest point in the tank or from the water drain point.
i. Water Phase Test (water in the sample is more than 15ml):
Use the pipette to draw the water from the sample and fill the bottle to the lower line.
ii. Mixed Water and Fuel Phase (water in the sample is less than 15ml): Use the pipette to draw the water from the sample and put it into the bottle.
Then, fill the bottle to the top line with the fuel sample.
iii. Fuel Phase Test (no visible water in the sample): In this case, fill the bottle to the top with the fuel sample.
b) Secure the dropper cap and shake the sample vigorously for a few seconds. Then, invert the bottle so that blue fluid will settle out of the fuel sample.
Note: Blue fluid will not separate for water phase sample.
c) 2-3 drops of the blue fluid should be discarded to clear the dropper. Then, carefully drop 4 drops of the blue fluid into each sample well.
Interpretation of results
1. Negligible Result (no/negligible contamination)
Negligible result means either there is no or very little contamination. In this case, all the control lines and test lines are visible. No action is required.
2. Low Positive Result (moderate contamination)
Low positive result means there is a moderate level of contamination. In this case, a test line will be missing on any of the low devices.
This means contamination is there and steps should be taken for decontamination.
3. High Positive Result (heavy contamination)
High positive result means there is heavy contamination in the fuel system. Fuel treatment and filter/tank cleaning may be required. In this case, two or more test lines on the low devices or at least one test line on the high devices will be missing.
4. Invalid Test Result
Test result is invalid if any of the control lines is missing.
Note: Rerun test with new kit.
